Northwest Natural
Project: Enterprise Asset Management, Human Capital Management
Go Live Date: February 2009
At 150 years, NWN is the oldest utility in the Pacific Northwest, operating over 138,000 miles of gas distribution lines. Information technology had always been a key business driver in NWN’s success. Over the years, NWN had built an inventory of large disparate legacy systems that were unable to keep pace with growth and its billion dollar asset portfolio. NWN needed to integrate multiple legacy and PeopleSoft systems for work management and HR to a single platform and chose Sparta to carry out the migration and implementation activities in a risk-free, reliable, cost-effective and seamless manner. The Sparta team implemented a comprehensive, SAP based Enterprise Asset Management solution and HCM suite using Sparta’s PeopleSoft data migration tool to convert all required history, resulting in the retirement of a number of legacy systems. Sparta completed the entire project in 8 months, enabling NWN to streamline all business processes, leverage a federated portal for HCM and BI and replacing all PeopleSoft functionality with SAP HCM.
